Still a non-sensical service. But, as long as the Slovak taxpayer covers the cost, NIKI/AIRBERLIN doesn't have to care. As I said before, if they wanted to serve the whole Slovakia and eliminate any pointless flights BTS-VIE, they should base the plane in Kosice (KSC), East Slovakia, and fly KSC-BTS-BRU-BTS-KSC-VIE in the mornings and VIE-KSC-BTS-BRU-BTS-KSC in the evenings. That way, they would:
- connect the whole Slovakia to BRU
- cover the only sensible domestic route KSC-BTS that is now only served by CSA 3days a week
- create a competition on the service KSC-VIE that is now only covered by overpriced Austrian
- eliminate the pointless flights from BTS to VIE
But, of course, if the purpose of this route is to tap into Slovak governmental subsidies, then just doing BTS-BRU-BTS-VIE "makes sense".
